today...was hot...mid 90s hot...but started an hour early, home now so WHO CARES!!! Watered the potted plants, peeked at the fish (no food today!) and nipped inside (no air conditioning, but the house is a nice 75F with the windows closed). Turned the oscillating fan on and kicking back reading posts! Tis all good!

did my weekly weed-walk-through (took more time than I thought it would, considering I did a major weeding last week!) The rain we've been getting must be the root cause (see what I did???) of such weediness! But it was cloudy most of the time I weeded, so not bad, and the rain we had last night/this morning helped the weeds come out very easy. Even the bugs didn't 'bug' me until later. Worked on fixing the UW pondcam (again, yeah, it's becoming a very sad story!) so hopefully, back in the water tomorrow after the sealant sets up overnight. Cut the euonymus down last Friday and fixed the three window screens it had affixed itself to and today, decided I'd put up some trellises for it to climb back up but now, hopefully, it won't attach to the newly fixed screens!

Added a mod to my mower; the 'better' units have a canister air filter mounted overtop the engine, mine has always been the lesser-type, so modded out what i had to achieve that 'better' air filter situation. Testing it out tomorrow but no reason it shouldn't be better. We'll see. Hard to know how 'bad' or good what I had was as I had nothing to compare it to until now! I can always put everything back if my mod has issues!

When weeding, I cleared out the area I planted some lupiine seeds as the sedum had almost taken over and I feared any seeds still trying were getting overwhelmed. Hopefully they'll re-seed every year and I'll have that 'wildflower' bed I'd been visualizing. Mostly Russell hybrids as most of my seedlings from two years ago were eaten by varmints! Lots of time wasted with that experiment!

Then I took an hour to just sit by the pond and relax (I don't work Mondays anymore, except around the house!)

@brokensword you been a busy beaver! Hope all your hard work pays off especially the UW cam and the mower! The plants and seeds you can always fix but those other two deals you must have working right!

We took hubby's truck in today to get fixed up so we can hopefully use it again for truckin around in when needed. Have to have it working right for camping trips and hauling his big mower down to the rental to mow the back field.

Later today I go to see the eye doc. Haven't been to one in over 20 plus yrs! Might have dry eyes or who knows what, all I know is things ain't the way they used ta be! I do wear reading glasses and hopefully that's all as I'm not wanting to wear glasses all the time and prolly won't unless I need them to drive but that's it! I will feel my way around everything else if I have too.

Everything seems to be working okay, so fingers crossed it stays that way!

Is this truck ALSO from the 90s??? heh heh

You mean you can't get hub's mower into the back of that Subbie??? tsk tsk tsk; shoulda got a larger Subbie, methinks! What the heck we ripping off the village peeps re taxes if you don't apply them appropriately?? Sheesh, gonna hafta look closer at your Queen renewal license next time it come due, sure enough!

We all get old, j.w; no doubt, the eyes are not as sharp as they used to be! Does this affect you ONLY for near objects? I know I tried hard NOT to wear my glasses EXCEPT for driving just because I think the more you wear them, the quicker your eye sight deteriorates, so I've been able to go for a checkup like every 10 years or so. Need reading glasses now for sure (just so everything is sharp, not that I can't see/read per se) and the ones for driving (again, can see but don't want to miss what the signs say until I'm right on top of them!). Hopefully, you'll only need to up your reading glasses strength. I think mine's at 1.25 right now, maybe 1.50 - I sort of forget!

Yeah, another sign of old age--writing lots of notes for myself!!

Good to hear all is so far working out for ya!

Yes the Dodge is a 1998 diesel duely and in great shape. Just had a worn out leaky tranny line that they replaced and maybe something else I can't remember, that's why it was losing fluid so no biggy. It's ready to pick up today.

Ripping off the peons is the Queens job isn't it? The one w/the biggest stick is in charge and I qualify!

Eyes turned out pretty good. Said some tiny signs of cataracts but may never amount to anything or maybe in 10 to 15 yrs he said. Need a stronger pair of readers and he said I could get some distance ones for tv viewing at night so I can see the words and subtitles easier but said it was my choice. I told him no bi-focal's and he said just get a distance pair and I can use when I want to. Said I didn't need for driving but said if I did I would notice a bit of clarity. I am farsighted he said. I agree w/you if you use the glasses too much I think your eyes get lazy and depend on them too much.

I wear daily contacts and I can't get a refill unless I see my eye doc once a year...I've had the same prescription for 5 yrs so why waste my time and money?...so that really sucks! Image

Another usual day here...I'm hoping to be able to do some work in the yard today after work, if it's not too hot
We lost power for a few hours last night ...We do have a generator but it's a pain
I realize how much we relay on electricity, when it gets taken away well enjoy your day everyone! Image

@Gemma so I just figured out what that smiley guy of yours is doing up there. Took me awhile but I see it now, putting contac's in! Sheesh there must be an emoticon for everything on the planet!

I turned the screen brightness down on my computer and adjusted the contrast too. Now it is more eyeball friendly and my old glasses will do just fine. Not bothering to get new glasses! I did pick up a cheap pair of #1.00 readers as I found out that if I use them while watching tv they provide some good distance viewing when subtitles or text of any kind appears onscreen. The doc told me that trick! He said it will work for me but not everyone. That strength is way too low for my close up reading but perfect for distance. I'm not wasting my money either w/new glasses and anything else I don't really need. I will get by somehow!

I suppose w/all that is going on w/the electricity consumption and the way the world is falling apart we will start to have rolling blackouts now. Might as well everything else has gone downhill!

Gemma; mrsbrokensword just takes her prescription to Costco and they fill it, so if you can get your prescription...and can locate a Costco...you're good to go! No docs need be involved!
