I'm hoping to find a place where I know someone
...what made you stop gardening if you don't mind me asking? Image
Hey, Gemma; early on, someone asked about starting a garden forum (attached to the pond forum) and I figured we'd wait until there was some interest. Ah, be ye that interest?? I can whip up something for you if you want, just let me know. Still not many regulars here, but I don't mind doing this for you. I'm a gardener (flowers, not veggies) and usually have lots of pics, I have some knowledge re 'gardening' but am not an expert even if I play one on TV! Just let me know...

:D :D ;)
That would be so awesome!
I was debating whether or not to even ask about a gardening forum on here, I'm glad I did!
Up until now I did mostly flowers as well, but as I said above I'm working on a project that involves lots of veggies and fruit.
Speaking of pics, is there a limit on how many pics one can upload?
I would be very thankful and participate, if you took the time to set up this board Image
no problem; just started back to work and have not licked this head cold completely yet, so give me until Monday and I'll have the graphics etc in place.

I think 20 pics per post. I think. The Imgur extension helps with larger pics, most can probably be dragged off the desktop (or uploaded from your phone) easily enough. Any issues, let me know. I think I have the process working well but you never know!

With Spring now here, it'll give another venue to post the flowers as they arrive!

Image First thing hubby and I do on Saturday morning is hiking with one of our sons and friends, after that we stop in town for coffee, and then weather permitting I would like to spray to kill the grass and lay the mulch around the raised beds, and I wish there was a better way than using chemicals, but I don't know of any that would kill that invasive groundcover ...it's going to be a big job so that's the only thing I have scheduled for today

I have questions about the functioning of this forum and don't know where to post them so I hope here is as good as place as any
1) The showcase Forum: I don't see a "New Topic" button or "Reply" or "Reaction button" am I not allowed to post there?
2) Reactions: Is there a shortcut or a trick that allows to click on reactions at the bottom of a long post, or is it the only way to scroll back to the top? (not complaining, just asking)

@Gemma in regards to the showcase setup I think @brokensword needs to allow you to be able to start one and post stuff. Seems like I remember something about this and for some reason he hasn't fixed it yet. He's prolly at his hockey play time games today so you will have to be patient and wait for his response. I see you have a lot to do today anyways. What kind of ground cover are you trying to be rid of?
For the reaction thing I do think you must scroll up to the top of each post and you must choose that full editor and preview button at the bottom of the post to open up the reactions . Good questions for the boss man as he's always tweaking things as much as he can to make them comfy for us to use. Only so much he can do tho due to the boss men who own the forum making company.

If you lay down 4" at least of mulch, it probably WILL kill the grass. If any Does come through, you could spray it then. Just an idea. You can also lay landscape fabric down, THEN mulch and get the same results but with more surety.

Re the forum; we debated whether to have comments in the actual showcases. It seems you have one or the other. There's benefits to each and between j.w and I, we thought it would mess up the 'showcase' at the expense of easily editing in the future. So, Showcases for now, are for the ponder in question to show off their work/pond/etc. Only the 'moderator' of each showcase can edit; that's why if you want one, I have to set it up and make you the mod. This means you can go back later and adjust, whereas normally, you get an hour before you can't edit or delete anything.

As you read a post, the 'reactions' icon is always at the top of each post; just click and choose which you want to use (like, dislike, love, laughing, angry, etc).

Hope this helps! And you can always PM me Gemma or ask as you have; just make sure you 'mention' me so I see it!!!

I do agree that comments in the showcase forum are not a good idea, I remember the many posts I had to scroll through, to get to the next step of a pond I was following when I was looking for inspirations to build my second pond. I rather see the beginning to end of a project, without too much in between, but I was wondering why I couldn't post a showcase or give a Image reaction to your and jw's

Ah yes @Gemma the lovely Vinca Minor. I had that also and looked so pretty and then decided it wanted to live everywhere and was taking over so I eradicated it by pulling and digging it every time I saw it trying to come back. Finally after a few years of constant pulling and digging it never came back. It's been several years so guess it is gone! Never ever will I plant that again!
